In the midst of our conversation, she told me that her decision for college is final. She will be moving out to the West Coast to attend college here in Los Angeles this fall. That news could not have made me happier.
While I was talking with her, it was surreal to realize that the senior year she is currently experiencing was a lot like mine. I think that's pretty cool. She's having the time of her life, achieving her goals, and quickly proving that she is a 'big fish in a little pond'. She's also the only other person I know of that has taken the plunge to move to L.A. right after graduating High School. That in itself takes guts. I should know!
Jenny during her senior performance of FAME. In this song, she ironically sings about moving out to Los Angeles to chase her dreams.
I told her I was excited for her, because I know I'm going to be able to really help her out when she comes out here. Hopefully she'll be able to take some of my advice to heart and learn from the mistakes I made when I first came out here. I'll of course be able to help with other things, too, like learning the layout of LA!
But more than anything, I'm just really excited to have another friend out here. While I have made friends since moving out here, there's nothing quite like those friends from back home, and it makes me really happy to think that I'll be able to drive down the 101 Freeway any day of the week and say hello. :)
