Updates

Hey Everybody! A few updates lately...

Cooper Class - I recently had a chance to teach a class at Cooper Industries. Normally, unless I'm teaching at the studios, my class locations aren't THAT exciting...but this one brought some flashbacks of growing up. In South Milwaukee, I grew up about 5 blocks from the big Cooper building. Ironically enough, this Cooper building in Van Nuys, CA is about the same distance from my place out here. Crazy irony, eh? The folks were really nice and knew all the guys at the SM office. Small world!!

It's hot! It has been crazy hot again in Southen California. We've been pretty lucky this whole summer, so I suppose I should just shut up and take it :) Rumor has it that after this week, we will be entering our 'Fall' season in California.

Good Movies! There are alot of good new movies that are coming out! I'm REALLY stoked for 'The Social Network' to come out soon, but this past week I saw 'Buried' and 'Catfish'. Both were fantastic! I highly recommend both to anybody! At the theater I saw 'Catfish' at, they even had original artwork from Angela Pierce. (That probably seems like nothing...but you MUST see the movie to understand. Don't let anybody tell you about it before you go!)

Drew Carey - This is a pretty random side note, but holy cow!! Is it just me, or does he look like an ENTIRELY different person!?! Crazy!

Glee Premiere Party!

Tonight was a very exciting evening! I was lucky enough to win tickets to the Season 2 Premiere Party for Glee! Nancy (my friend from Universal Studios) went with me, and we had a great time!

Before the episode aired, we had a chance to eat a TON of food and check out some neat Show Choirs that are in the area. I was seriously impressed by Burbank's Glee Club!

We also had a chance to meet one of the stars of Glee - the Piano Player! :) It was an exciting night of seeing stars and walking the Red Carpet. Can't ask for much more!

We Made News!

Greetings, friends! What an exciting evenign it has been.

For those of you in Milwaukee, hopefully you had a chance to see our story on WISN 12 news this evening. If you missed out, you can see the video by clicking here.

Special thanks to Portia Young for being awesome and creating such a fantastic story! Also, I should throw special shout outs to everyone who has continued to help support our camp since the very beginning. It is because of all of YOU that this camp has grown to new heights!

Tonight was the beginning of Fall Sweeps Week on TV and there is ALOT of great television out there! Some new shows that are very cool, as well as some returning series' that are great to see back on the lineup. I'm currently trying to keep up with the DVR, but I have been impressed with everything I've watched so far.

Tomorrow I'll be going to the World Premiere of Glee! :) I'm looking forward to it! I'm sure there will be updates soon! Stay tuned for more!

'Milwaukee Girls' Party

In celebration of the awesome news story is about to air on WISN 12 News, the campers decided to hold a party so everyone could get together. The campers all go to different schools during the school year, so for some, this was the first time to get together since the camp. Although I couldn't be there, I made sure to send the kids some Hollywood trinkets! Check out some of the fun pictures below. :)

In this picture, the girls were apparently posing for smiles like I do...

New Website and Upcoming News Story!

Hey Everybody!

I've been keeping quite busy lately with a bunch of different projects! Most recently, I've been working a bit with Red Cross. This weekend Jermaine and I were at UCLA doing a Health Fair selling First Aid kits and spreading the word about being prepared. It was a fun time!

Tonight, I am pleased to announce that my website is back! It's new and improved! Check out www.KyleCOlson.com to see the new stuff! It's not complete, but it's much better than my previous sites. I think you'll agree! Special thanks to Anthony for helping me out with it!

Tomorrow (Monday) is an exciting day back in Milwaukee, WI. I wish I could be there! On Channel 12 (WISN/ABC) at 10:00 pm, after the Season Premiere of 'Dancing with the Stars', there will be a news story on about my Summer Entertainment Camp! It will highlight the success of the music video we created called "Milwaukee Girls". I can't wait to see it! Portia Young says its going to be an awesome story, and I'm sure that is an understatement!

Until then, I'm off! It's been a long weekend! Time to relax :)

Go Cubs Go!

I have a fun story for everyone today :)

When I first came out to California, one of the first industry related things I got to do was check out some tapings of 'According to Jim'. I had some friends that got me VIP reserved seats every week of the last season, and needless to say, it was a blast.

On one of the last episodes, Jim Belushi came out to the audience before the show started and had us participate in a fun project. We all had the opportunity to sing the chorus to the Chicago Cubs theme song! I know, I know...it's the Cubs...but hey, it was a cool experience. They expected the song would start playing before every game during the 2010 season (but that the record would be released sometime before then).

Tonight, as I was browsing YouTube, I actually ran into the song! You can check it out below! See if you can hear my voice! ;)

September 11th

Can you believe it's been 9 years since 9/11/01? I can't. It seems like it was just yesterday. I remember every detail in such vivid color.

I thought I'd share one of my favorite songs that was released after 9/11 with you guys. I hope you enjoy it.

Sad News

Sad News, Blogger Friends :(

I received word the other day that Comedy Sportz LA might be shutting down. It could happen as early as October.

Apparently, with the rough economy and stiff competition, Comedy Sportz has not been able to stay on top like in years past. I've been to many different comedy and improv spots in Los Angeles, and I can honestly say, without hesitation, that Comedy Sportz is the best of the best. They have the greatest staff and a fantastic facility, and it would be a shame for them to go away.

They are starting a campaign called 'The Last Laugh'. Everyone is encouraged to come out and see an Comedy Sportz show. With a little luck, they'll get enough response and support to say in business through the end of this year -- and possibly even longer. If anybody wants to fly out and see a show with me, let me know :) Or feel free to send me $20 and I'll be sure to fill your seat with pride. :)

My heart and support goes out to all my friends (many of which are originally from Milwaukee!) that are going through tough times at Comedy Sportz.

Here's hoping that October won't be Comedy Sportz LA's last laugh...

3 Years (and counting!)

It's hard to believe, but 3 years ago, I moved out here to California from my hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It's been one heck of a ride so far, but during these three years, I've had some incredible experiences. I've also been blessed to meet some amazing people. The time has flown by so quickly, and I am looking forward to even more good times in the near future.

A special thanks to all my friends and family for their overwhelming support. I would not have stayed on this journey for three years and counting had it not been for all of you.

Every day I am getting closer and closer to reaching my goals. I cannot believe how far I've come in such a short amount of time.

Here's to continuing the journey for years to come! Thanks for sticking with me.

20th Century Fox at the Bowl

Last night, Jessica and I traveled to the Hollywood Bowl to see "20th Century Fox's Music of the Movies". It was a nice show! Certainly not John Williams, but a good time, nonetheless.

Highlights of the evening included hearing scores from 'Edward Scissorhands', 'Star Wars', 'The Sound of Music', 'Ice Age', and 'Avatar'. Sadly, no 'Titanic' music was played :(

Here's some pictures and video, as usual...

Portia interviews Milwaukee Girls

I'm homesick today, folks. :(

Portia Young, a reporter / anchor for WISN 12 News, spent the morning (on her day off!) interviewing some of my campers for a special story she is doing on my camp / the Milwaukee Girls music video. The girls did an awesome job and made me proud and happy.

Here's some pictures and a video. Special thanks to mom for capturing all of the action from 'behind the scenes'. :)

Tonight I'm heading to the Hollywood Bowl to see '20th Century Fox Presents Music of the Movies'. It should be a good time! This will be the first time I'm going to the bowl with somebody else, too! Jessica (my roommate) will be coming along for the trip!

More updates to come soon! Take care, everyone!
